Cy-Fair CERT (CFC) has proposed to Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HCOHSEM) to conduct 2 CERT Training classes in 2022, and HCOHSEM has agreed. Class 38 will begin on 29-Mar (ending on 17-May) and Class 39 will begin on 23-Aug (ending on 11-Oct). Both classes will be held at the Lone Star College-Cy-Fair Emergency
Education Services Center (ESEC – 18132 West Road, Entrance E – in the back of the building, Cypress, TX 77433 – part of the fire station located west of the Lone Star College, https://goo.gl/maps/hLZX9fqYBc6U1YPN6). You may miss 2 classes and still graduate, but you must attend the final drill (last class meeting – demonstration of the skills you learned).

There is NO FEE for this 8 week Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) class (FEMA requires that each class be comprised of 8 modules, CFC classes are held on consecutive Tuesday evenings from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, an 8 week commitment, one evening a week). You will receive a
class manual and backpack with starter supplies such as a hardhat and safety vest. Upon graduation you receive a certificate and official CERT ID badge.

Come join the other 490+ citizens in the Bear Creek, Bridgeland, Coles Crossing, Copperfield, Fairfield, Towne Lake and neighboring Cy-Fair communities who have taken our training. Learn how not to become a victim during an emergency or disaster!

Modules cover:

  • Disaster Preparation
  • Fire Safety (and YOU will suppress a small, contained fire)
  • Medical Operations and Triage (2 sessions)
  • Search and Rescue
  • Disaster Psychology & Incident Command Structure
  • Terrorism and CERT
  • A Final Drill (to demonstrate the skills you have learned during the class)

All classes are taught by professionals in their field.

Check back to this webpage frequently to see if registration has opened for Class 39, starting on  Tuesday, 21-Mar start date, 09-May completion date (final drill). Registration will open in December 2022 with an updated homepage showing the Eventbrite sign-up link..

All CERT Training is dependent on the Harris County Threat Level.
