Training
Cy-Fair CERT (CFC) has delayed Class 38 to Fall 2022 due to not meeting enrollment requirements for enough students for the spring dates that were set by Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HCOHSEM). HCOHSEM has approved moving Class 38 and it will begin on 23-Aug (ending on 11-Oct). Class will be held at the Lone Star College-Cy-Fair Emergency Education Services Center (ESEC – 18132 West Road, Cypress, TX 77433 – part of the fire station located west of the Lone Star College). You may miss 2 classes and still graduate, but you must attend the final drill (last class meeting – demonstration of the skills you learned).
There is NO FEE for this 8 week Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) class (FEMA requires that each class be comprised of 8 modules, CFC classes are held on consecutive Tuesday evenings from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, an 8 week commitment, one evening a week). You will receive a class manual and backpack with starter supplies such as a hardhat and safety vest. Upon graduation you receive a certificate and official CERT ID badge.
Come join the other 500+ citizens in the Bear Creek, Bridgeland, Coles Crossing, Copperfield, Fairfield, Towne Lake and neighboring Cy-Fair communities who have taken our training. Learn how not to become a victim during an emergency or disaster!
Modules cover:
- Disaster Preparation
- Fire Safety (and YOU will suppress a small, contained fire)
- Medical Operations and Triage (2 sessions)
- Search and Rescue
- Disaster Psychology & Incident Command Structure
- Terrorism and CERT
- A Final Drill (to demonstrate the skills you have learned during the class)
All classes are taught by professionals in their field.
All CERT Training is dependent on the Harris County Threat Level
